San Francisco loves Andrew Bird! What a treat it was to see him play outdoors in Golden Gate park, on a beautiful breezy sunny afternoon (well, as sunny as it gets in SF, anyway). The backdrop of cypress trees, dragonflies skimming over the crowd, and patchy fog drifting overhead made a lovely scene to see Andrew play. Sadly the set was just too short; only nine songs, but we did get to hear one new song off the forthcoming album, and the whole set was fantastic, with just a great energy and intensity. They seemed to be really enjoying the city, the festival, and the audience. Without a doubt they'll be back in SF after the new album is released.
